Letter to Our Patients

Dear Valued Patient,

Over the last few years, many of you have had the opportunity to meet and work with Physician Assistant Kevin McDonald. Kevin will be retiring in September. He has been dedicated to caring for our patients and supporting Nuvance Health. Most recently, Kevin helped Norwalk Hospital with the potentially life-saving convalescent plasma program for COVID-19 patients. We wish him all the best in his retirement and new adventures.

Internal Medicine Associates of Westport, in partnership with Nuvance Health Medical Practices, is delighted to welcome Cristina Ionescu, M.D., who is joining our practice in September. Dr. Ionescu will be available to see new patients and patients who were previously seeing Kevin.

Dr. Ionescu received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from Cornell University in New York, and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition. She earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Ohio, and then completed a full surgical residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. Despite her lengthy and arduous training in surgery, she realized that her calling was primary care and continuity of care of patients over time. Dr. Ionescu then completed her residency in internal medicine at Woodhull Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Ionescu is committed to caring for her patients throughout their life and helping them maintain their health so they can continue to do the things that are important to them. We will all benefit from her wide range of experience and training in nutrition, surgery, and internal medicine. Dr. Ionescu is an admitted “foodie” who loves to read, travel, run, and spend time with her family, including her two little boys.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ionescu to our IMAW family.

Sincerely,

Jay A. Horn, MD, President IMAW
